DISASTER READINESS CENTER

BRINGING A REGIONAL IDEA TO A NATIONAL STAGE

The DRC was born out of a powerful need to turn the hard-won lessons of West Kentucky’s disaster recovery into a replicable model for other communities. Initially operating under the umbrella of the Community Foundation of West Kentucky, the DRC had a compelling origin but needed clarity and cohesion to take the next step.

As they prepared to launch independently and expand their reach beyond state lines, they needed more than just design, they needed strategic storytelling that could bridge local impact with national relevance. They ne

We came alongside DRC at a pivotal inflection point. Our mission wasn’t just to make their materials look good but to help them communicate who they are, what they do, and why it matters on a national stage.

We aligned message and mission…then made it move.

To build a comphrensive and clear identity, we completed the following projects in the span of four months:

  • Brand Identity & Pillars: We worked closely with the DRC board to define a brand that could carry the weight of their regional experience while opening doors nationally. Together, we refined their voice, clarified their mission, and developed four core pillars that now serve as the foundation for their communications and growth.

  • Messaging Overhaul: It wasn’t enough to say what the DRC does—we needed to clarify why it matters. We built messaging that reflects their proactive approach, community empowerment ethos, and scalable model for readiness that meets communities where they are.

  • Website Redesign: Their new site didn’t just get a facelift… it was given identity. Aligned with the brand’s tone and mission, the site now speaks clearly to funders, community leaders, and partners alike.

  • National Conference Booth Design: As DRC prepared for a major national stage, we designed and developed a full-scale exhibition booth—visually compelling, strategically laid out, and built to spark meaningful conversations. The booth helped generate high-quality connections and positioned DRC as a thought leader in the disaster recovery world.

  • Print Collateral: We created two key print pieces:

    • A Thank You Letter to partners and supporters of the West Kentucky recovery effort, grounded in gratitude and momentum.

    • A clean, accessible Informational Handout about the DRC’s mission, work, and invitation to collaborate.

The result of this creative partnership? A clearer voice. A stronger brand. And a platform that allows the DRC to confidently step into its next chapter, serving not just West Kentucky, but communities across the country.
